Checklist for a Healthy Day

Living a healthy lifestyle is one of the most meaningful things you can do with your time. After all, every part of your life relies on you having good health first and foremost. The goals you set for yourself, the places you someday want to visit, or the grandchildren you want to see grow up all depend on how you take care of your body. By maintaining a healthy lifestyle, you can help prevent chronic diseases or other illnesses and feel good about yourself. An easy way to assist with living an overall healthy life is to create a checklist to help you hit all of the main points to achieving optimal health each day.

A checklist for a healthy day is difficult to come up with because everyone is going to be different. Different people will seek different health options depending on their life circumstances and preferences. Everyone is different and we have to treat our health and our health goals in that way. Ultimately, everyone has to find their own checklist that works for them, but in general, there are 5 things we should all have on our own health checklist!

1. Nutrition

It’s important to add fuel to your tank. Eating nutritious foods helps your body perform at its best and gives you more energy. Some people prefer focusing on breakfast because your body is very insulin-sensitive in the morning, making it a great time to eat foods filled with fiber and carbs to lower your cholesterol. However, others may benefit from trying out intermittent fasting, where you move around your meal times so you are only eating in a set window of around eight hours per day. This has been found to activate certain pathways in your body that help you burn more fat, protect against diseases and cancers, and increase your lifespan. 2. Exercise

When you move your body, you feel better. Exercising and being active are different for everyone, but as a general goal, aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity every day. Soon, you will begin to notice your mood elevate and your body get stronger. If you are looking for ideas, try out these 4 easy at-home exercises to get started!

3. Deep breathing

Deep breathing exercises might not be at the top of everyone’s checklist, but maybe they should be! Deep breaths are more efficient and allow your body to fully exchange incoming oxygen with outgoing carbon dioxide. Deep breathing also helps slow your heartbeat, lower or stabilize blood pressure, and lower stress. You can do this while practicing yoga, meditation, or even just right when you wake up, try to focus on taking in a few deep breaths.

4. Water

Drinking plenty of quality water is important for everyone! Your body is composed of about 60% water, and it needs the proper amount to keep your bodily functions running. To keep your digestion, circulation, and nutrition in tip-top shape, don’t skip on the water!

5. Sleep Routine

This isn’t the first time we have talked about sleep, and that is because it is a necessary part of health. Sleep controls how much energy your body has throughout the day, and it also affects how you sleep the next night. While you are sleeping, your body is healing and repairing your heart and blood vessels and preparing you for the next day. It is important to get into a good sleep routine to help you stay in a positive cycle.

It can be daunting to look at this list as a complete day, but it becomes easier when you set routines around these 5 things. We hope these help you in starting your own checklist for a healthy day!
